I'm reading this book for a book club (hence why it is very different from my usual fare), and it is immensely gripping and I'm racing through it! (I also have to, because the meeting is coming up fast and I waited too long...) I'll probably finish the book tonight, and I look forward to sharing a full review next week!

The Kidlit Lovers' Meetup!

      Okay, books. I am ashamed to say that I have not read any Jodi Picoult 😬 but I hope to at some point because I like her and so many people I like love her.

    The meet-up was a DELIGHT! I loved the discussion and meeting some new-to-me bloggers and of course adding more books to the TBR. So I've only read one Jodi Picoult novel, many years ago, and I never read another because it was so propulsive. Like I couldn't put it down but I had other things to do and sleep to get but just had to keep reading instead to find out what was going to happen! (It was My Sister's Keeper). I know some people love that kind of reading experience, but life is quite suspenseful enough for me. I like my books to be a little slower-paced and quieter! Hope your book club meeting is fun.

MMGM and #IMWAYR: Allergic, written by Megan Wagner Lloyd and illustrated by Michelle Mee Nutter

Well, it's happening—on Monday, I start in-person college classes for the first time in my life. Accordingly, I will be wildly busy and frantic for a while, but considering I posted a book review every single week of my first year of college last year (which was all-virtual), I don't think my blog will suffer too much. But you can expect that Thursday Thoughts posts will be on hiatus, and I probably won't have time to stop by people's blogs during the week (although I will still be diligent about commenting on your MMGM and #IMWAYR posts). Blogging is a nice respite from the chaos of college, so I will look forward to sharing oodles of book reviews as always in the months to come! In other news, I bought a bunch of new graphic novels using gift-card money! A few are already out, most of them come out in September and October, and one comes out in February and one in April. It'll be nice to have some cool books just magically showing up on my doorstep! Aggravatingly,

MMGM and #IMWAYR: Books that are gentle with your feelings!

(Y'all, I am so sorry if the post formatting is chaotic—Blogger is such a nightmare sometimes. Now for the post!) I haven't been reading much lately, and it's kind of a funny reason why. I'd say I'm in a phase right now where I'm trying to feel some important feelings. And it's a balancing act between unearthing those feelings and processing them, and not letting them get in the way of my day-to-day life. (I think I'm scoring a solid 75 out of 100 on that balancing act, which I'm proud of!) And the thing is, I haven't been reading books because I don't really want to feel anything! 👀 Now, that's definitely an exaggeration—my day-to-day experiences, and thoughts, and the music I listen to all bring up feelings, and I'm happy to feel those. But the idea of plunging myself into a whole emotional universe where I have to deal with someone else's feelings...just really doesn't sound appealing. I have enough feelings to keep busy
