#IMWAYR: Just saying hi!

Hey y'all! It's been a minute since my last post—grad school is as chaotic as ever, and I find myself unwilling to read for all kinds of strange reasons. But it's spring break (huzzah!), and I'm delighted to cram some graphic novels in.

I started reading Saving Sunshine on Friday and meant to have a full review for y'all, but I didn't quite finish reading it in time, so I'll share it in full next week. But it's been beautiful and eye-opening and sweet so far, and I'm excited to talk more about it!

Also, I have big personal news I wanted to share—I have a car now!!!!! It's a beautiful Subaru, and although I tried to be extremely empirical in the car-decision process, and it is indeed rated highly, I can't deny that knowing several people who love their Subarus played a part in choosing it. But gosh—it's so good. It has responsive steering, a powerful but really smooth engine, an absurdly smooth and quiet ride, tons of interior room for its size, huge windows, and a bop-pable sound system. I feel really, really lucky to own it, and I've already gotten to make some great memories in it—with hopefully many, many more to come.

My hope is to blog at least a little more consistently from here on out—it makes me sad to be missing out on this community I love so much, full of so many great bloggers. Of course, I often say I'll blog consistently and then...fail, but maybe this time will be the charm!

At the very least, you can count on me being back next week with some actual reviews for you all. I'm excited to share more then, and I'm wishing you all a restful, reading-filled week in the meantime!

  2. My daughter is also in graduate school and is doing pretty much no for-fun reading. She misses it but says with all the required reading, she just doesn't have the time or energy. And, she got a Subaru when she started grad school (a Crosstrek) and loves it! She is in NY and there are tons of Subarus. You're in good company!

  5. I appreciate you telling me what your car-buying experience was like—as a car nerd, I always love talking about this stuff! Car prices are genuinely insane—my budget stretched and stretched to get something that met our criteria, and it's no fun that you all had to stretch your budget too to get something without a ton of mileage. But it sounds like you made a great choice—I've actually grown up in many different wonderful Hondas, and the HR-V was on my shopping list too! I'm glad you all have a car that you can get out to the country with. Thanks so much for stopping by, Linda!

  6. Congratulations on the new car, Max! Your first one, right? Exciting! Glad you are enjoying it. Saving Sunshine was the last book I read in 2023 (squeezed in just before the end of the year), and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Hope you're enjoying spring break!
